Itchy ears

Anyone who has ever had itchy ears knows how annoying this is. You often have difficulty reaching it and you also want to be careful in your ear canal. There are several ways to reduce or even prevent itching.

Why do I have itchy ears?

Itching in your ears can have various causes. A possible cause could be:

Itching can be caused by dry skin, allergies or a skin condition such as eczema. But excess earwax or moisture in the ear canal can also be the cause. Itching in your ears can be accompanied by flaking and dryness. Dry ears can also be quite itchy.

What can I do about an itchy ear?

Fortunately, there are solutions for itching in the ear. One thing is certain, scratching and picking the ear is not a good idea. It can damage the ears and the itching often returns (worse). What you can do:

  • Keep the skin in the ears hydrated and take good care of it. Ear drops based on pure honey soften the skin, provide strong antibacterial protection and soothe the skin. This will reduce the itching and help the ear to heal better.
  • Clean your ears regularly. An earwax remover can help you with this. This allows you to safely remove earwax without damaging the eardrum. Use an ear shower to clean your ears or scrape excess earwax from your ear with an ear scratcher .
  • In addition, take good care of your ears. If you suffer from dry ears, protect them well against cold and dry outside air and ensure that you do not shower too hot or for too long. Is the itching caused by irritation? Then be careful with irritating substances, such as shampoo and soap.
