Snoring
Are you lying awake because of snoring? Snoring is often a sign of poor breathing during sleep. These products help you snore less and rest better.
Snoring is very annoying for you and your partner. It is a big problem for yourself and others who can't sleep because of it.
What is snoring?
Snoring is caused by a narrowing of the airway between the nostrils and vocal cords. This is where air passes when you breathe in, even when you sleep.
When air is quickly 'squeezed' through a constriction, snoring sounds are created. You can compare it to the deflation of a balloon. A lot of air then flows quickly through a narrow point, causing it to vibrate and make the familiar snoring sound.
Two types of snoring
There are two types of snoring: throat snoring and nasal snoring. When the constriction is in the throat, snoring occurs there and is called throat snoring. When there is a constriction in the nose, this is called nasal snoring. There are different solutions for both types.
What to do against snoring?
Fortunately, there is something you can do about snoring. You can do things yourself to reduce it. For example, by living healthier. Smoking, alcohol and being overweight increase the chance of snoring. In addition, you can also use aids for snoring.
Throat snoring
An anti-snoring brace repositions your jaw while wearing it, so that the airway gets more space. More air and less snoring!
Nose snoring
Nasal dilators and nasal strips give the nose more space and thus more air. Because the nasal entrance widens, there is less chance of snoring through the nose. If you can breathe less well through your nose, there is also a chance that you will start breathing through your mouth. This increases the chance of throat snoring. With a nasal dilator, there is also a chance that throat snoring will be reduced.
You can also rinse your nose with a nasal douche to breathe more freely. This frees up your nose and sinuses, reducing the chance of a narrowing.
