Snoring mouthpiece
Does your snoring partner keep you awake all night? Or is your partner annoyed by the sounds you make in your sleep? A snoring mouthpiece offers a solution.
Snoring can significantly disrupt your night's sleep. Not only from the person who has to listen to it, but also from the person who snores themselves.
Why do people snore?
People snore because they breathe when they sleep and there is a narrowing in the trachea. A narrowing that causes snoring is often between the nostrils or the vocal cords (in the nose or throat). If this happens, the air passes too quickly through the constriction during breathing, causing a vibration and snoring sound.
A narrowing occurs, for example, if:
- The tongue slides backwards. This can happen when you lie on your back and all the muscles relax.
- The tonsils are enlarged.
- The pharynx is irritated.
- Someone has a weak or long palate (or a weak or long uvula).
- Someone has a cold or a stuffy nose due to an allergy.
Excess weight, alcohol, sleeping pills or tranquilizers, an underactive thyroid gland and old age increase the risk of snoring.
Snoring, what is the solution?
Do you keep your partner awake with loud snoring? Or do you actually lose sleep over the sound your partner produces?
A snoring mouthpiece, or actually an anti-snoring mouthpiece, can help. The snoring mouthpiece creates more space in the throat, which can reduce snoring complaints or even stop snoring completely. The Oniris anti-snoring mouthpiece is adjustable and therefore easy to customize.
What is a snoring mouthpiece?
You wear a snoring mouthpiece, or better: an anti-snoring mouthpiece, in your mouth while sleeping. A snoring mouthpiece brings the lower jaw slightly forward. This creates more space in the pharynx and there is less chance of a narrowing. The air can flow better through your throat and snoring will decrease.
A custom snoring mouthpiece
You probably wear a snoring mouthpiece every night. It is therefore very important that the brace fits well and is comfortable. Some snoring mouthpieces can be custom made. A good example of this is the Oniris .
You place the brace in hot water for a moment and then make teeth impressions. This means that the bracket fits well, it will not move easily and you enjoy optimal wearing comfort.
